Balestrino: The abandoned village (1/2)

The old village of Balestrino is located at the top of a hill in the Italian region of Liguria, and is now deserted and in ruins. The village had had serious stability problems in the past, caused by landslides. In 1963 it was rebuilt slightly downstream, but since that time the village remained uninhabited and nowadays finds itself at an advanced state of disrepair.

In 2013, the access to the old village was closed to the public through the installation of three heavy gates due to the high risk of collapse and incidents of crime. However, if you Google it, you are going to find some brave photographers that had the courage to surpass the gates and explore the insides. Since I had only 15 minutes around and few bravery, I did my job through the fence 🙂
